Head of Buying – Non Food

Circa £80,000 - £90,000 + Management Level Bonus + Benefits
Our client is a large retailer with a strong brand image and market repuation. They have experienced strong growth over recent years and have produced excellent result over the last 12 months.
You will be a proven leader and strong negotiator with previous buying/category management experience ideally gained for a top 20 retailer in any product category. You will have extensive experience dealing with large multi-national branded suppliers/manufacturers within any Food [e.g. Chilled, Fresh, Ambient and Grocery] or Non Food [e.g. DIY, Electrical, Toys, Seasonal, Homewares] product area.
Applicants should have the following skills and attributes:
• Highly developed negotiation skills
• Senior buying management experience for a leading UK retailer, managing a £250m+ category
• Excellent supplier management skills with exposure to complex relationships with branded suppliers/manufacturers
• Strong commercial acumen – accountability for achieving and excelling company targets
• Strategic ability – responsible for setting budgets, achieving margins, category profitability etc
• Highly self-motivated individual
• Able to manage, develop and motivate senior team members
