Our client is keen to strengthen its head office commercial team by appointing an experienced Buyer.
The main areas of this role will include; negotiating cost prices, evaluating the supplier base, building strong working relationships with suppliers, selecting a market leading product range and driving category growth via setting promotional strategies.
To succeed in this role it is essential you are a proven negotiator and have extensive Chilled and/or fresh buying experience.
Key areas of the role will include:
• Negotiation of supplier trading terms to meet financial targets
• Identifying new product development opportunities
• Competitor Analysis
• Continually sourcing new suppliers
• Setting promotional strategy
Applicants should have the following skills and attributes:
• Highly developed negotiation skills
• Educated to degree level
• Chilled/Fresh buying experience gained for a leading retailer/wholesaler
• Excellent supplier management skills
• Excellent relationship building skills
• Strong commercial attitude and knowledge of food retailing
• Ability to work in a fast paced trading environment
